The scholarships will be awarded to the writers, craftspeople, and artists best depicting
the value of our ranching and cowboy heritage, ie:
- Historical or contemporary ranching and stock-raising practices.
- Figures involved in ranching and stock-raising practices.
- Art, industries, institutions and/or technologies which support or sustain historical or
contemporary ranching and stock-raising practices.
- Cowboy Craft, eg: horsehair braiding, leather work, metal work, etc.
Please Note: All submissions must be based on a ranching or cowboy topic or theme.
To apply for a scholarship read the rules, print the application form, fill it out and sign it, and either mail it or
scan and email it, with a copy of your poem or essay, or your original art or
craft work (not a copy or photo), to the address below. Entries should not have been
published previously. We reserve the right to publish the winning entries for promotional
use. All entries must be presentable for display. Written submissions will be judged on
content as well as punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
Entries must be be received between November 1st and December 31st of each year.
Entries received after December 31st or before November 1st will not be considered.
